Sun visors for CF and XF models
As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks, DAF does not compromise on anything. As such, it was always going to be a real challenge when DAF’s Danish supplier of sun visors asked us to supply a very specific chrome coating for them. The fact that the two new truck models were to be presented to the motoring press just eight weeks after our first meeting with the client only added to the challenge.
One of our high-tech robot systems, in which three robots process the item in each pass, was used for the job. The special paint nevertheless requires three passes to be undertaken, with each item undergoing an advanced process that includes three rounds of deionisation and three rounds of precision coating plus drying of the primer, base coat and top coat.
A very narrow tolerance was required to achieve the desired result, especially on the basecoat (the chrome-coloured paint). This would not have been possible without our unique combination of high-end production equipment, expertise and many years of experience.
